BPJPH and BPOM Detect 7 Processed Products Labeled Halal but Containing Pigs

In press release Number 242 / KB.HALAL / HM.1/04 / 2025 dated April 21, 2025, the Halal Product Guarantee Agency (BPJPH) in coordination with the Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM) supervises the circulation of drugs and food related to claims of halal products. Based on this supervision, from 11 (eleven) batches of products, 9 (nine) processed food products were found to contain porcine elements as evidenced by laboratory testing for DNA test parameters and / or porcine specific peptides.

9 (nine) Processed Products, 7 (seven) of which have been labeled halal and 2 (two) products that are not labeled halal. The list of processed food products detected to contain porcine elements is listed in the Appendix to this press release.

7 (seven) Processed Products that have been labeled halal are given sanctions in the form of withdrawing goods from circulation. This is stipulated in Government Regulation (PP) Number 42 of 2024 concerning the Implementation of the Halal Product Guarantee Field. While 2 (two) other products that have not been labeled halal, the POM Agency has issued sanctions in the form of warnings and instructed business actors to immediately withdraw products from circulation. This is in accordance with the provisions of Law Number 18 of 2012 concerning Food and Government Regulation Number 69 of 1999 concerning Food Labeling and Advertising.

BPJPH and BPOM also emphasized that they continue to carry out product supervision in the field in accordance with their respective duties and functions. BPJPH and BPOM also urge the public to actively participate in monitoring products in circulation.
