LPH UIN Sunan Kalijaga Participates in Halal Supervisor Training and Competency Tests

On Monday-Thursday, December 9-12, 2019 LPH UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta participated in the Halal Supervisor Training and Competency Test held at Amaris Hotel, Bogor City.

The training participants sent from UIN Sunan Kalijaga consisted of 2 participants, namely Jumailatus Solihah, S.Si., M. Biotech who represented LPH UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta and Dr. Maya Rahmayanti, M.Si. who represented MSMEs Assisted by the Halal Center UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta. The training materials presented include (1) Halal Certification and Halal Assurance System Tool Usage Techniques, (2) Halal Certification Policies and Procedures (HAS 23000: 2) Toxic and Hazardous Chemicals / Hazardous Chemicals, (3) Halal Assurance System Criteria (HAS 23000: 1) Criteria No. 1 to 11, (4) Development and Implementation of a Halal Assurance System (HAS) and (5) Practice in Preparing the HAS Manual.

This activity is a response to Law No. 33 of 2014 concerning Halal Product Guarantee, that every product and service related to food, beverages, medicines, cosmetics, and used goods circulating in Indonesia must be halal certified starting October 2019. Companies that will and already have halal certification are required to have a halal supervisor as required in Article 24 of the Law.

The halal supervisor profession will require competencies that are recognized and proven by a certificate of competence by BNSP (National Professional Certification Agency). The competency test is carried out by LSP LPPOM MUI which has received a certificate of competency from BNSP. (iu/red)
