LPH UIN Sunan Kalijaga Receives PRATAMA Accreditation Certificate from BPJPH Kemenag RI

Halal Inspection Agency (LPH) of UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta has received a Certificate of Accreditation from the Halal Product Guarantee Agency (BPJPH) of the Ministry of Religion of the Republic of Indonesia. The Certificate of Accreditation was received by the Head of LPH UIN Sunan Kalijaga, Prof. Dr. Ahmad Baidowi, S.Ag., M.Si, at Mercure Hotel Cikini, Central Jakarta, on Wednesday (26/10/2022). This accreditation certificate was submitted directly by Plt. Head of the Center for Halal Cooperation and Standardization BPJPH, H. M. Sidik Sisdiyanto, M.Pd. The Certificate of Accreditation was given to LPH UIN Sunan Kalijaga based on the Recommendation Letter of the Chairperson of the LPH Accreditation Team Implementation Board number: A0020/TIM-AK/LPH-LHLN/RK.01.01/10/2022, which states that LPH UIN Sunan Kalijaga has been accredited as a Halal Examining Institution with qualifications: PRATAMA, which is valid from October 5, 2022 to October 5, 2022.

After receiving the Certificate of Accreditation, Prof. Baidowi said, the awarding of this accreditation certificate is an official symbol of the start of the operation of LPH UIN Sunan Kalijaga and obtaining legality as a certified LPH. Strengthened by 12 Halal Auditors, LPH UIN Sunan Kalijaga is ready to encourage the acceleration of the halal ecosystem in Indonesia by serving the needs of regular halal certification with a coverage area in DIY Province in particular and Indonesia in general. This is in line with Law Number 33 of 2014 article 4, products that enter, circulate, and are traded in the territory of Indonesia must be halal certified, encouraging the public to guarantee the implementation of Halal Products which aims to provide comfort, security, safety, and certainty of the availability of Halal Products for the community in consuming and using Products, as well as increasing added value for business actors to produce and sell Halal Products.

The Auditor Coordinator of LPH UIN Sunan Kalijaga, Dr. Imelda Fajriati added, with this Accreditation Certificate, LPH UIN Sunan Kalijaga is ready to provide services including halal certification for regular channels, Verification / Validation, Product Inspection and / or PPH. Inspection, Audit and Laboratory Testing if needed for products in the form of Food and Beverages and Medicines (herbs).In the 2nd year, LPH UIN will apply for re-accreditation to add the scope of inspection for cosmetics, chemicals and slaughterhouse inspection.

LPH UIN Sunan Kalijaga is supported by competent halal auditors by implementing ISO 17065 quality management as a transparent and impartial certification body. With the legalization of LPH UIN Sunan Kalijaga, it further strengthens the role of the University in supporting halal product assurance in Indonesia.

Thus, UIN Sunan Kalijaga has 2 halal institutions, namely the PPH Assistance Institution (LP3H) which serves free halal certificates specifically for Micro and Small Enterprises, and Halal Inspection Agency (LPH) which serves regular halal certification applications, explained Dr. Imelda.
